Bio: Shirley Barrie co-founded and was Associate Director of the Tricycle Theatre in London, England from 1972 to 1984 where she began writing plays. Returning to Canada, she founded Straight Stitching Productions with Lib Spry in Toronto in 1989 and has won two Chalmers Awards and a Dora for her work for the company. As well as writing plays for young and family audiences, she has developed scripts through the collective process (Straight Stitching, Tripping Through Time), written plays about fascinating women from history (The Pear is Ripe, I am Marguerite, Siren Song) and had seven dramas produced for radio. Several of her plays have been published. With Emil Sher she edited Prepare to Embark: Six Theatrical Voyages for Young Audiences published by Playwrights Canada Press, 2002
